E-Library For Childress Patrons
As our patrons purchase, or receive as a gift, eReaders such as the iPad, Kindle, Nook, etc., they are looking to their libraries for eBooks. Through the Harrington Library Consortium, Childress Public Library, is able to provide a large, and still growing, selection of eBooks for patrons of all ages. There are tutorials for most devices below.

Patron Notice: E-Read Texas!
We know it has seemed like a long wait, but E-Read Texas made a decision about a *New E-Book/Audiobook library and they are moving all the previously purchased titles to a familiar face- Cloud Library!! AND we are good to go!!
We are sure there will be a LOT of questions (I know we had quite a few)- and I can answer some of those now…
- Do I need a new card?
Short answer is no you won’t- if you already have the Cloud Library App, you will essentially- “re-add” your Childress Library Card number and current PIN- The DIFFERANCE is, that while in the past you have selected Harrington Library Consortium as your library, when you “add a new library card for user” you will select Childress Public Library. You will input your same card number and pin. This will give you access to BOTH of the Cloud Library accounts, as CL supports multiple cards in one account-
- Do I need to log out and back in every time I want to ‘switch’ Cloud Library accounts?
NO!! Up in the top right corner of the App- there is a library card listed there- you can switch back and forth between the two accounts with out having to reenter your information. I will try and post pictures or videos when we are up and running for all you sight learners!
I am SURE there will be more questions as this is implemented, but some will not come to light until after we are up and going for both library platforms and work out (if any) kinks- Obviously, we are MORE than happy to help you, should you want to bring your device in.
Other Free E-Book Opportunities
A subset of the E-Read Texas collection is available for all Texas libraries to use. There are approximately 6,000 e-book titles available from Biblioboard at the link below. The URL is geolocated and recognizes the location of the user; as long as the user is in Texas, they should be automatically authenticated into the website.

There are several other places that you can find free (or discounted) ebooks as well!
