The Scholarship Application for 2026-2027 has officially closed. Recipients will be notified . Thank you to all of the amazing students who submitted!

Childress Friends of the Library is thrilled to present two (2)$1000.00 scholarships to 2026 high school graduates who reside in Childress County.

It is open to all students who attend a public, private, or home school.

*Preference will be given to students who enjoy or appreciate reading and literacy.

It may be used to attend any higher education institution, including trade or technical schools.

Deadline for applications is March 31st, 2026. There are 2 (two) different ways to submit your application for consideration: A paper copy of your application may be dropped off at the Childress Public Library OR you may email a digital copy to:

[email protected] (CHS students only)

*Please only submit to ONE of the above options.

With your application you will be asked to include:

● Resume
● Letter of Acceptance from school you are attending
● 2 Letters of Recommendation
● Essay describing yourself and your life’s journey thus far

Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Childress Friends of the Library Board, and notified by May 22, 2026. The first $500.00 will be awarded prior to the start of the Fall 2026 school semester.

Upon receipt of proof of successful completion of the fall semester, as well as continued enrollment for the following semester, the remaining $500.00 will be released in January 2027.
